The Kitano New York opened in 1973 as the city's first Japanese hotel. Thirty-two years later, it remains the first and only Japanese owned hotel. Located at Park Avenue and 38th Street, the 149-guestroom, AAA Four-Diamond hotel includes 17 contemporary suites and a one-of-a-kind (unique) Japanese Tatami Suite.
The hotel's bar and lounge, serving rare Sake imports, overlooks the lobby and Park Avenue from a bright second-floor mezzanine. The Piano Bar comes alive with weekly jazz nights. The renowned restaurant, Nadaman Habukai, serves beautifully arranged Japanese cuisine in a contemporary setting. Guests may also choose to dine in a traditional Tatami room. Guests and enjoy the tranquil aroma of green tea, provided by in-room Japanese tea makers.
